Halli Labs Acquired by Google, too late but too smart too!

"The four month old Indian start-up help technology to march on in its timeless purpose"

Halli Labs belongs to Google now. This is the first acquisition Google has done in India ever. However, After Sundar Pichai’s elevation this news has come way too late but this acquisition indeed has a lot to cherish about. Here is an excerpt from the Halli Labs introduction paragraph “Halli Labs is applying modern ML (Machine Learning) techniques to solve old problems and domains to help technology to march on in its timeless purpose – i.e. giving superhuman powers to all of us humans in letting us do whatever we want to do better.”

Like any other internet giant, Google is also desperate to exploit Indian market. In its bid to play big, Google has arrived very late in India specially when Microsoft has a strong presence in Indian market since three decades. Acquisition of Halli Labs spells Google’s priority of improving its Indian Language translation. 500 Million people use Hindi and there are more than 17 other languages in India that caters to sizable market for an information carrier like Google. Halli Labs has not yet delivered any product in market but they were very promisingly working on Speed Recognition & Natural Language Processing. While the charisma of this acquisition is yet to be revealed, the floodgate has been opened up, let’s see what rolls down in Indian market from now on.

From invention fire, wheel, rice cultivation, paper, gunpowder, electricity, www and hashtags… Artificial Intelligence is set to place humanity to an exponentially new height. Halli Labs has one more thing to impress! The name of this youngest organization! “Halli” in Kannada is called village. We are so fascinated by American names and western verbatim that we seldom heed on how Amazon or almost all Japanese brand like Mitsubishi, Honda, Kodak or Chinese brands like Hawaii have successfully placed their home-grown names into the league of global brands. Strong roots will carry the load of tomorrows giant tree, foundation must be acknowledged. Those brands are all successful because they carry forward their cultural practices along with their names with highest possible ethical standard of business. When Halli Labs describe how modern Machine Learning Technique will solve old problems of human kind it evident that how their culture enrichens their future vision about the organization they have founded.

Well this does not at all a universal criterion of globally performing organization. It never limits the scope for any company to succeed but it considerably proves why some company succeeds and other could… not even when everything they’re doing is right. Simon Sinek in his lecture has described that the most important source of success for any organization is their ability and preference to communicate why they do what they are doing. Halli Labs is just four months old and now joins the Next Billion vision of Google. A lot of us may argue upon this interpretation of success but when we observe the bandwagon of Google Next Billion, organizations like DeepMind and inventions like AlphaGo… it ensures that for complex designs like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Augmented Reality… collaboration will out use competition and together we all will advance to future when humans will work with superhuman minds.

My letter to Mr. Chetan Bhagat

Sent to bhakti@chetanbhagat.com  as on 26, August 2013, In response to Mr. Bhagat's Article  Sunday Times, 25th August 2013, Indore Edition  Dear Mr. Bhagat, This is awful that a person of your stature is out rightly supporting a cult publicly. Knowing that millions of youth will be influenced by your opinion, you should have behaved more responsibly in public. We know media is sold to Modi and international big brothers want to use Modi cult by giving rest to UPA for at least a term. For international diplomacy BJP & Congress are all alike. While these two national parties will keep wrestling over their core ideologies of being Hindu Nationalists & Secular Nationalists, they will always settle on the economic policies favoring to international markets. They will be ready to provide free flow accessibility of Indian consumers & natural resources to foreign corporate giants. It is sadly termed as a real growth of India. Because if foreign inve...

The Cusp of Democracy & Autocracy

A country where earning Rs.18 a day tags you not poor, Election Commission spends Rs.73 per voter to conduct the general election  - Jitendra Rajaram "O ut of 123 democratic countries in the world, not a single country is 100% democratic. Not a single democracy conducts 100% impartial election. In India where 36% population lives in a $1 a day, the cost of election is more than $1 a vote. The irony doesn't end here! The political parties conesting in such elections have spent more $13 to woo every single elector in 2019 General Election of India. Owing the amount of money spent, should we call it a democracy or plutocracy? Nic Cheeseman and Brian Klass wrote in the first page of their book “How to Rig an Election” with a statement “The greatest political paradox of our time is this: there are more elections than ever before, and yet the world is becoming less democratic”. The book written by Nic Cheeseman & Brian Klass, Harper Collins Publication | Yale Univers...

Theocracy Strengthens Aristocracy and Defies Democracy.

"It was easy in ancient time for religions to progress for two reasons. One every civilization was miles apart from every other civilization" - Jitendra Rajaram   "T he mixture of fear and weakness among the people who surrenders to feudalism has enlarged the idea of God-ism. The theory first coined by the power hungry ruling class and their serfs. People, when united, are the ultimate power. The select few (ruling class) always wanted to control this power of people. The control of power is all about channelizing the energy it holds. This is how the need of an imaginary superpower evolved. A superpower which can channelize the energy of united people. Ruling class invented this imaginary power to tame the real power (i.e. people).  Had I ONLY been introduced to anyone of Brahma or Allah or Moses or Christ during my childhood I would have easily believed upon god. The creators of God (i.e. Ruling Class) have devised so circumventing methods to establish...
